How Do You Do It?!

anniecuddle

The inevitable end to my day.

Forgive me blogosphere, for I have sinned! It has been 15 days since my last post. I am actually quite appalled at my inability to multitask. As you may already know from this post, I recently rejoined the workforce after a six-month-mental-health-related hiatus. I just worked twelve 9-hour days in a row, and at the end of each shift I thought to myself “I MUST put up a new post when I get home”. I would stride in the door, full of purpose and brimming with groundbreaking literary material that I couldn’t wait to share with you all. Ok, maybe not groundbreaking, but just…just…. just go with it, ok?! This is my blog and I’ll exaggerate if I want to. All the time. Like literally every sentence will be exaggerated. Ok, maybe not every sentence, that’s a slight exaggeration. ANYWAY LET’S MOVE ON. Continue reading

A Week of News & Buckets of Gratitude!

Untitled (2)

You are all the sunshine in my day!

Hey my lovelies! I’ve been a bit of a WordPress slacker this week, so I’m sorry for taking so long to respond to your lovely comments and catch up on all your wonderful posts!

Three things have happened this week which have contributed to my AWOL-ness (hey, it’s a word. Shush.), so I thought I’d share them with you here. This is a pretty random post but I just want to give an explanation so you don’t think I’ve been ignoring you! There’s someone I’d like to personally thank at the end of this post, so be sure to check that out. Continue reading

Antidepressants: Yes or No?

Today is going to be a very frank chat about my personal view on antidepressants. I understand that opinions vary wildly on this subject, so I’m just going to throw my 2 cents into the mix. For many people, taking antidepressants/other medication for mental health is an extremely private affair, which I totally respect. However, if you feel comfortable talking about your own experiences, please go right ahead as I would love to hear your thoughts! This is a judgement-free zone. Continue reading

Dragon’s Loyalty Award

dragons-loyalty-award1Hello my dears!

My thanks once again go to the ever delightful QuirkyVictorian for this award, and I’m sorry it took me this long to respond to your nomination! Go and check out Chloe’s blog if you haven’t – I promise you won’t regret it. She is 100% included in my most loyal commentors, but as she has already participated the award I will leave her off my list of nominees. You are heart-nominated Chloe! (I’m making heart nominations a thing. Heart-nomming is so in this season).

Wait, that sounds like eating a heart. Maybe not heart-nomming. You know what I meeeeeean! ANYWAY. Let’s move on. Continue reading

An Anecdotal Apology

13236169_10154005956791154_1976432454_n

Even this snail is appalled by my slowness.

My dearest dears. I owe so many of you an apology, because I have just been reading through all of my posts (modest, I know), and realised how many comments I haven’t replied to. I am so mad at myself and I feel so ungrateful, considering that you’ve taken the time from your day to comment on my waffling! I have called this post “anecdotal apology” because I do soooort of have a reason for this… not an excuse, just an amusing habit of mine that I thought I would share in the hope it makes you hate me a bit less. Sunday Night Scribble

Two posts in one day – yikes! This one will be short, I promise. Here’s a rough plan for another character in my (very very VERY amateur and very very VERY far away from being an actual book) children’s book. In case you haven’t already gathered from literally every other blog post I’ve ever written, I freaking love cats. Like, too much. I can’t walk down a street without stopping to pet every single cat I see. It’s a curse.

With that in mind, here’s a rough doodle of the evil cat living next door to my protagonist:

Return of the Dread-i

(I’m so sorry. That was terrible. Take as long as you need to cringe, I’ll just wait here).

Ok, all done? I can’t believe you stayed. Give yourself a round of applause for being so tolerant of my awful humor. You are truly a saint. So anyway, why have I chosen THE worst pun in the history of terrible puns as today’s title? Because the worst day of the year is swiftly approaching, and my dread is gurgling more noisily in my chest with every passing day.

May 28th. My birthday.

Astoundingly detailed artwork by yours truly. Just call me Fran Gogh.

3 Days, 3 Quotes: Day 3

For my final day of this tag, I’ve chosen a lyric from Moulin Rouge, one of my favourite musicals. This quote means a lot to me because I truly believe that the meaning of life is in the relationships we have with others. I took the picture below in Cascais, Portugal, and I think it really supports the meaning of this quote. The people look so tiny and insignificant in a huge landscape but they are all spending time together enjoying each other’s company – echoing the fact that we are all tiiiiiiny specks in the great wide universe, but we matter because of who we are to each other. WOW THAT TOOK A DEEP TURN, sorry guys… It’s a blimming quote challenge, not a philosophical essay, steady on Francesca!

3 Days, 3 Quotes: Day 2

Hello again my dears! I am just scraping in on day 2 with five minutes until midnight – I was woken up this morning by my house shaking from a magnitude 5.2 earthquake, and have been a bit anxious ever since and therefore not very productive! But I promise not to waste 600 words before getting to the point today. Here is my favourite quote from one of my favourite films of all time – The History Boys. My best friend and I “studied” for our history scholarship exam in high school by watching this film on repeat while stuffing our faces with pancakes. Needless to say, neither of us passed, but I still think we were the true winners that day. Here is the glorious quote, in GIF form for extra gloriousness (kindly take your red scribbly underline elsewhere you dastardly spell-check, this is my blog and I shall decide whether “gloriousness” is a word, not you. Rude).
