Dragon’s Loyalty Award

dragons-loyalty-award1Hello my dears!

My thanks once again go to the ever delightful QuirkyVictorian for this award, and I’m sorry it took me this long to respond to your nomination! Go and check out Chloe’s blog if you haven’t – I promise you won’t regret it. She is 100% included in my most loyal commentors, but as she has already participated the award I will leave her off my list of nominees. You are heart-nominated Chloe! (I’m making heart nominations a thing. Heart-nomming is so in this season).

Wait, that sounds like eating a heart. Maybe not heart-nomming. You know what I meeeeeean! ANYWAY. Let’s move on.

This award is lovely, because it recognises loyal commentors rather than great blogs. I think this is so important because we all have those people who faithfully provide feedback on almost every post, so it’s great to give them some public recognition! I truly appreciate every single person who has ever commented on my posts. It still blows my mind every time someone actually takes the time out of their day to READ my blog, let alone comment on it. So even though I’m only allowed to nominate six people, please know that you are all stashed away in my mental bank of gratitude. Even if you have only ever commented once on my blog, it means the world to me.

The Rules

• Display the award on your blog and announce your win with a post.
• Link the blogger who awarded you.
• Present six deserving blogs with the award and link your awardees in the post.
• Write seven interesting things about you.

Six Nominees:

Please feel free to participate even if your name isn’t on this list! I appreciate you all so much, and you don’t need a reason to tell your loyal commentors how grateful you are.

Seven Interesting (or not really) Facts About Me:

  • I have a degree in English Literature.
  • I once played a singing fork in a production of Beauty and the Beast… I’m pretty much destined for stardom.
  • I have a paralysing, all-consuming fear of cockroaches. One time I found one walking around on my toothbrush and I locked myself into my wardrobe and hyperventilated for 20 minutes.
  • I crave vinegar ALL THE TIME. No, I’m not pregnant, and no, it’s not just that I like the taste. I actually NEED it or I start to feel pretty awful. I drink at least two glasses of it a day, and can easily eat a jar of pickles in one sitting. Someone diagnose me! Am I missing some sort of mineral?!
  • There is a tiny, dime-sized area on my knee which makes me faint if it gets hit. The most inconvenient instance of this was a few months ago, when I was about to take my sister  to hospital for a suspected kidney infection. She was in agonising pain so I was running to get to her. On my way, I ran into a bedpost, hit the knee-spot, and fainted for 2 minutes while she was screaming on the couch. Great timing Francesca.
  • I am left-handed. It’s a smudgy world I live in.
  • I absolutely love animals, and have had over 40 pets in my lifetime. This little guy was one of my many rescue missions. He was called Young Neil (name that reference!), and I rescued him from my cat’s mouth. He learned to fly by jumping off my finger into the bathtub, and he used to sit on my head while I studied for exams.

That’s all for now folks! Hope you are all having an utterly spiffing day.

All my love and thanks for reading,

sig

  1. “Heart-nomming” oh dear I cannot stop laughing thinking of someone gobbling up hearts “nom nom nom!” Yeah, not a great image…

I love your facts so much, but I must say, 2 glasses a day of vinegar?! My mother used to try to get me to drink apple cider vinegar for my sinuses, and I just couldn’t do it. If my mother’s (or actually her grandmother’s) remedy is actually a thing, you must have some pretty great sinuses! Except I think it’s specifically apple cider vinegar.

Gah, that knee thing sounds awful! But I kind of find it a little funny (in a not-funny-but-kind-of way) that you have such a specific weak spot. It’s almost like a self-destruct button. That being the case, you probably shouldn’t have posted that here, because you don’t want your nemesis (or nemeses; you could have multiple, I don’t want to make assumptions about your life) to find out about that…

And that bird is so cute I might actually die!

  2. Haha I know right! I typed it, then immediately pictured a tiny monster munching away on a big bowl of love hearts. My wording needs a little work 😛

Oh, well I’m pleased to hear that because it is almost always apple cider vinegar! And now that you mention it, my sinuses are usually crystal clear haha. I know how weird it sounds, people are always so grossed out… but I just feel like I HAVE to have it.

Don’t worry, I find the knee thing hilarious. It’s definitely my Achilles’ heel! I first discovered it playing dodgeball in gym class when I was 11 – I tripped and hit my knee on the ground, but it didn’t hurt or anything so I just got up and kept playing. Next thing I remember is waking up on the floor with the school nurse and principal standing over me 😛

Isn’t he a cutie! I no longer have him, it was a few years ago now, but he was the best little dude. Thanks for commenting and for nominating me in the first place!

  3. I think we’re both destined for stardom. I played a weather woman in my school play for Mary Poppins and my only line was “looks like it will rain today.” I think I did a pretty good job of it. 🙂

Finding a cockroach on your toothbrush?? Nevermind locking myself in the closet, I’d leave and never come back. Get someone else to live there and deal with that. And you’ve had 40 pets? I’m so so impressed. That’s amazing! I’ve always thought pets can be much better companions than humans sometimes 😛 I used to complain all the time to my cat and she’d just listen (occasionally looking at me like I was daft)

    • Haha I guess I’ll see you in Hollywood then! I was in a Mary Poppins production too… I had grand plans to be cast as Jane Banks but ended up as one of the dancing penguin waiters 😛 A weather woman sounds much more important!

And yes, I’m sure it’s more than 40 but those are just the ones I can think of straight away. It must seem like I’m just a massively irresponsible pet owner to go through 40 pets in 23 years, but the vast majority of them were guinea pigs. We started off with “2 boys”, or so we thought, and ended up with an absolute explosion of them… they multiplied faster than we could separate them into genders so we just had new babies arriving every few weeks! Obviously we didn’t keep them all, but they all had names and we would take them all out to play every day. Haha and I’m glad I’m not the only one who talks to the cat! I am at home by myself a lot of the time so my poor Annie has to put up with my ramblings 😛 Thank you for reading and commenting!

      • Guinea pigs are so adorable! I don’t think I’d mind having that many. I remember when my cat had her kittens, having them around the house was just the best thing ever. The first few days they could barely walk, and before we even knew it they were as big as their mother. Having pets can be so rewarding. 🙂

  4. Also, I often crave vinegar too :/ I love eating pickles and dress my salads with tons of balsamic vinegar and hot sauce. Also I like drinking “shots” of apple cider vinegar….
