How Do You Do It?!

anniecuddle

The inevitable end to my day.

Forgive me blogosphere, for I have sinned! It has been 15 days since my last post. I am actually quite appalled at my inability to multitask. As you may already know from this post, I recently rejoined the workforce after a six-month-mental-health-related hiatus. I just worked twelve 9-hour days in a row, and at the end of each shift I thought to myself “I MUST put up a new post when I get home”. I would stride in the door, full of purpose and brimming with groundbreaking literary material that I couldn’t wait to share with you all. Ok, maybe not groundbreaking, but just…just…. just go with it, ok?! This is my blog and I’ll exaggerate if I want to. All the time. Like literally every sentence will be exaggerated. Ok, maybe not every sentence, that’s a slight exaggeration. ANYWAY LET’S MOVE ON.

Where was I? Oh yeah, purposeful striding and life-changing prose. I had it all figured out as I walked the 25 minutes from work to my house. “‘Tis I!”, I would declare as I burst through the door. “I am arrived: Francesca, High Priestess of the Blogosphere, First Lady of Eloquence and Mistress of Wordsmithery, here to dazzle and astound with my mastery of language and articulation!” I would then smile winningly at my adoring family members as they heaped their praise and support upon my blogging endeavours, and brought me my dinner on a silver platter so as not to distract me from my writing fervour.

Unfortunately for me, the nearest object to me once I enter the house is my couch. And usually on that couch is my cat. And if you have read a single one of my previous posts, you will know that cat + couch = Francesca’s personal heaven. You all know that wise old saying, right?

“The road to Francesca’s personal heaven is paved with good intentions”. Ah. So wise. So poignant. So true.

Still planning to smash out a blogging masterpiece before dinnertime, I convinced myself every single night that a small nap to recharge my batteries was just the ticket. Even though I knew full well that “a small nap” in my world is 2 hours, minimum. Basically guys, what I’m saying is:

HOW THE FLIPPING HECK DO YOU GUYS MANAGE TO BLOG WHILST ALSO HAVING A JOB?!

I am honestly astounded that people can actually post regularly on their blogs while also working a 40 hour week. How do you do it?!?! How?! HOWWWWW?! Tell me your secrets! By the time I come home from work, I am so exhausted that I genuinely can’t bring myself to move. I am in bed by 9pm every night, and asleep about ten minutes later. But I feel awful that I have neglected my blog so much since starting work! Basically, I just want to apologise for disappearing without any explanation, especially since so many of you are such loyal commenters and friends. I am trying to figure out how I can juggle work and blogging, because I am certainly not ready to throw in the WordPress towel! If any of you have tips on how you manage to balance the two, I’d love some ideas. I think it’s just because I am so unaccustomed to working that my body has been so exhausted, so hopefully soon I will be able to do more in my evenings aside from lying around in my polar bear robe. (Hey. Don’t judge. It was on sale).

Anyway, I missed you guys a LOT the past couple of weeks, and I’m really looking forward to catching up on all your awesome posts and ideas! Thanks for putting up with my erratic posting style, you guys are champs.

All my love and thanks for reading,

sig

  1. I’ve been neglecting my blog a bit lately, so I almost don’t feel qualified to try to share my “secrets” with you, but basically I hardly get to watch any TV (Netflix, I miss you; we had some good times, didn’t we?) and I don’t sleep much (what even is sleep?). I also have very little social life—but then again, when did I ever have a social life?

It’s all about choices. You end up deciding to blog instead of something else you could be doing. I feel ya, though. It sure is a struggle, and a pretty constant one at that. 🙂

  2. I wish I could answer your question. I think a great deal of sorcery and magic must be involved, because I’ve no clue haha.

  3. If you somehow manage to grasp that treasure, please be kind and share it with moi too. ;-; I suck at keeping to a tight schedule when it comes to my blog. Like, I can meet every single deadline as long as it is NOT related to my blog. ><
